Martin Luther King, Jr. March for Unity
Monday, January 16, 2017 – Noon, at the Clock Tower, The Square at Union Centre
Program & lunch: 1pm, Lakota West High School
ALL ARE WELCOME!
To the musically gifted:
You are invited to be part of the 2017 Community Choir for the West Chester/Liberty Township celebration of Martin Luther King Day. This year’s committee is doing things differently than in the past; hopefully the Live the Dream: Our Declaration of Unity program fits into your schedule, since the evening program has now moved to 1:00 p.m. on January 16 – immediately following the lunch that comes right after the March for Unity in Our Community. The March begins at noon at the Clocktower at The Square, and ends up at the Lakota West High School cafeteria, which is also where the program will take place. Also different this year will be a more participatory event, with the choir just leading the rest of the attendees in song, as opposed to being performance based. The choir will not only lead in song during the program, but also be spread throughout the group of marchers, to help keep everyone on the same stanza of We Shall Overcome, as we walk along outside. Since this still requires some rehearsal time, the following times have been arranged for the choir to practice. Attendance of at least one of them is necessary to participate in the choir, which will be directed by Denise Simpson.
Thursday, January 12, 7-8 p.m. at Christ The King Lutheran Church, 7393 Dimmick Road, West Chester, OH 45069 (optional – come as you are able)
Monday, January 16, 10:45 – 11:30 a.m., Lakota West High School cafeteria, 8940 Union Centre Blvd., West Chester, OH 45069.
