Friday, November 17th, marked the Butler County National Philanthropy Day Luncheon. The event celebrated local philanthropists and volunteers who impact the community in a positive way. This year, Faith Alliance president, Bonnie Greenwood, invited our two Volunteer Angels of the Year, Bobbie Turner and Kathy Tracy, to join her at the luncheon to be honored for their outstanding service (See photo below).
Bobbie, a member at Cornerstone UMC, has spent the past few years, devoting her volunteer efforts toward serving the Summer Lunch Ministry at the Countryside Mobile Home Community site. Bobbie spent many hours organizing enrichment activities after each day of the summer lunch, through collaborating with Mission Possible Churches in Monroe. Bobbie led our sun shelter and picnic table project to provide shade and a place to sit at two of our lunch sites. As well, Bobbie volunteered for Faith Alliance to improve our methods of signing up both groups and individual volunteers to serve at several of our Summer Lunch sites, which produced a 40% increase in volunteers.
Kathy, a member at Saint Anne Episcopal, has been a servant for many years in our community. Kathy is truly a “foodie” and has organized and served many a meal at both weekly dinner programs that Faith Alliance supports, Stepping Forward and West Chester Presbyterian Community Suppers. As well, she has served as Liaison Support for the past 2 years and served on both our Programs Committee and Music Festival Committee for two years. Kathy has served meals to the homeless families in the Interfaith Hospitality Network at Family Promise for many years.
We are so thankful for these two exemplary volunteers as well as many more who serve our neighbors every day in so many ways!
